A highly successful, fast paced, construction company in Morgan Hill, CA is seeking a Director of Accounting. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will be primarily responsible for ensuring the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions.


  • An accounting professional exercises discretion and independent judgment in matters of significance directly impacting the general business operations and its customers
  • Works under loose, indirect supervision using broad parameters and general guidelines; has the authority to create his or her own procedures or policies for accomplishing the work; can deviate from existing procedures without prior approval
  • Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules to inform senior management, on a monthly basis
  • Supervises AP and AR groups
  • Closes the books monthly
  • Analyzes financial statements on a monthly basis and reports on variances
  • Assists with financial and tax audits
  • Assists with the preparation of tax returns
  • Documents and monitors internal controls
  • Responsible for maintaining the general ledger
  • Fixed asset processing and reporting
  • Performs bank reconciliations and reviews bank statements
  • Researches and reconciles all discrepancies
  • Provides managerial accounting in the form of financial analyses of ’s business segments
  • Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions, and resolving discrepancies
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, attending seminars, and participating in professional organizations
  • Continuously seeks to improve the efficiency of processes

Bachelor’s or higher degree in Accounting or Finance

5+ years of construction accounting experience is required

Managerial accounting experience

Familiar with U.S. GAAP

Demonstrated ability to close books

AP/AR experience

Supervisory experience

CPA a plus

Communicate effectively with all areas within the business

Intermediate Excel skills -- advanced skills preferred

Construction accounting software package experience
