Job Description

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Execute site EHS compliance and management systems in accordance with governmental and company requirements
  • Execute the development, implementation, and maintenance of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs to ensure compliance, injury prevention, and risk mitigation
  • Manage projects in EHS
  • Partner with site leaders to continuously improve the safety culture, awareness, and accountability in support of EHS programs
  • Interface with site EHS committees, as well as the Emergency Response and Crisis Management teams
  • Evaluate proposed Federal, state, and local EHS compliance laws and regulations to determine impact to compliance programs and business operations
  • Interpret laws and regulations to determine applicability for facilities of responsibility and implement programs to comply
  • Execute EHS management systems programs and associated documentation
  • Support environmental compliance metrics including Storm, hazardous material management, Air permits, Life Safety, Hazardous Wastes, Form R reporting, Spill Prevention Countermeasures and Control Programs and chemical tracking and inventory programs
  • Execute audits, IH sampling, ergonomic assessments, and assists in pollution prevention activities.
  • Travel 15 %
  • Must demonstrate personal integrity and high ethical standards

Job Requirements

Must have or be able to get a current U.S. passport to support Cepheid global auditing

Education and Experience (in years): 

7 years of experience in the field of Environmental, Health and Safety OR

Bachelor of Science degree in the field of Environmental, Health and Safety with 3+ years of related work experience OR

Master of Science degree in the field of Environmental, Health and Safety

Knowledge and skills: 

Excellent communication and collaboration skills with all levels of organization

Ability to solve complex problems by: actively seeking information and new ideas from a variety of sources, consistently looking for novel ways to solve problems, and mastering unfamiliar information, tasks, and situations quickly and effectively

Must be highly proficient in Excel and data analysis

Strong computer-based skills, specifically with Microsoft Word and Power Point programs.

Physical requirements/abilities: Must be able to lift 25 lbs. Must be able to stand for several hours. Work may involve repetitive arm/wrist motions.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor of Science degree in the field of Environmental, Health and Safety with 3+ years of related work experience

Master of Science degree in the field of Environmental, Health and Safety

Strong project management skills as the position requires project manage across global operations

Strong data management and analysis skills as the position will be responsible for data management for Environmental Health and Safety

Strong people skills as the position will be required to influence people

Safety Culture through Grassroots Safety

Black or Green Belt Six Sigma
