An optical manufacturer company is seeking an Accounting Assistant to support its Cleveland Ohio site.

The position’s scope includes:

• General Ledger accounting including BS account reconciliations, intercompany activity reconciliation, and account maintenance and analysis.
• Monitor, maintain and improve cost accounting systems.
• Work with manufacturing personnel to open, close and analyzing work orders.
• Analyze, and investigate variances against standards costs as needed.
• Ensure the accuracy of standard cost systems.
• Work with customer service to ensure accuracy of orders and assist with forecasting.
• Interface with A/P, A/R, F/A, Payroll Shared Services organization to evaluate, and analyzes company expenses as needed.
• Research purchase price variance and recommend actions.
• Assist management with the preparation for and execution of physical inventory.
• Assist with cycle counting and reduction of inventory
• Assist with yearend audits, and reporting.
• Perform budget vs actual analysis.
• Ad hoc reporting including ability to import database files to excel to create meaningful reports.
• Other responsibilities as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree; accounting degree preferred
• Cost accounting experience.
• Direct work experience in a manufacturing environment
• Good analytical and presentation skills (verbal and written)
• ERP experience.
• Attention to detail.
• Microsoft suite a must.
• Proficient in the use of Excel.
