Job Description
A manufacturing company is seeking a Financial Controller to join their team!
Responsibilities:
- cost accounting, including opening, closing and analyzing work orders, site spending and variances, customer revenue and margin analysis
- labor data collection support
- cost control/management
- R&D, Engineering project accounting and controlling, reporting
- Program and project bid preparation, overhead rate preparation, accounting, revenue recognition/invoicing
- managing/coordinating annual physical inventories; auditing regular cycle-counting activities
- general ledger accounting (journal entries, BS account reconciliations, intercompany activity reconciliation, maintenance, analysis)
- sales commissions accounting
- interfacing with remote A/P, A/R, F/A, Payroll Shared Services organization
- preparation of tax schedules (local, state, S&U tax filings, annual income tax support)
- preparation of municipal, local, state, governmental, other compliance forms and schedules
- preparation of property and sales & use filings
- compliance reporting for various jurisdictions; e.g. local water and air quality management districts – in conjunction/coordination with site and Group EH&S
- monthly closing of company’s financial books
- monthly reporting (statutory and management – HQ and local requirements)
- preparing monthly cash-flow projections and monitor/manage collections and disbursements
- ad hoc reporting
- preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecast updates
- supporting Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process
- developing and refining accounting processes and procedures
- ERP optimization and improvement
- preparing business case economics and project analyses, product cost modeling and analysis
- preparation of year-end audit schedules; primary site contact for external auditors
Job Requirements
Required Experience and Skills:
- General ledger, cost accounting, inventory control
- Reporting – legal and management
- Transactional accounting
- Has the gravitas and experience necessary to act as an effective finance business partner to a management team.
- understanding of and experience with USGAAP; understanding of IFRS desirable
- “hands-on” direct work experience in a manufacturing environment; strong operations cost accounting and shop floor control experience from a finance perspective
- Inventory analysis and control experience
- good analytical and presentation skills (verbal and written)
- strong interpersonal skills
- “Quality spirit” (continuous improvement)
- strong ERP and PC experience; familiarity with ERP a plus
- Microsoft suite a must
- education: bachelor’s / equivalent or greater
- minimum of 7+ years of relevant and progressive experience
